What you see at the top
At the top of the Analytics page you have:
Title: "Website Analytics".
Controls (left to right):
Source – Dropdown to select the data source. Currently WordPress Analytics is the only option; Google Analytics and Combined Data are planned for future releases.
Period – Dropdown: Last 24 Hours, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, Last 3 Months, Last Year, or Custom Range. Changing the period updates all KPIs and charts.
Custom date range – When Period is "Custom Range", a date-range picker appears so you can choose start and end dates. Format is typically "dd MMM yyyy".
Live – Switch (toggle). When on, real-time analytics are enabled: the Active Now KPI card appears and updates at an interval (e.g. every 10 seconds), and the main visitors chart can show a live glow effect. A "Live" badge with a green pulse may appear when active.
Last updated – Text like "Updated 2m ago" or "Just now" so you know how fresh the data is (optional, may be hidden on small screens).
Refresh – Button to manually reload all analytics data. Shows a loading state (spinning icon) while refetching.
Export – Button for exporting analytics data. The backend supports export (e.g. CSV/JSON); the UI may show a placeholder or "Coming soon" until the full export flow is implemented.
Status bar (below controls): Shows the current data source badge, the selected time range (or custom range dates), a loading indicator when refreshing, and "Real-time updates enabled" when Live is on.
Benefit: One place to set period and source, turn Live on/off, refresh, and (when available) export. Without leaving the page.
