One search, everything
The Command Bar (CMDK) and Search put finding and acting in one place:
One search, everything – A single search box that finds posts, pages, users, comments, menu items, and settings. Type a few characters and see mixed results: content and navigation in one list. No need to open Posts, then Users, then Settings. One search, instant results.
Command bar (CMDK) – Open from the keyboard (Ctrl+K or Cmd+K) or by clicking Search in the header. Run actions without clicking through menus: go to Dashboard, open Users, open a post, or run a command. Built for power users who prefer shortcuts.
Instant results and suggestions – Results update as you type (debounced). Suggestions and recent items help you repeat a search or jump back to a recent result. Optional preview panel shows a snippet or details for the selected item (e.g. post excerpt) before you open it.
Find and act in one place – Search for content or run a command in the same bar. One gesture, one place. Find anything in seconds.
Benefits in short:
No more "which menu was that in?" One box for posts, users, menu items, and more.
Open the bar with Ctrl+K / Cmd+K or the header Search button.
Results as you type; suggestions and recent items; optional preview.
Run navigation and actions from the keyboard.
How to open the Command Bar
Keyboard: Press Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+K (Mac). The Command Bar (dialog) opens with focus in the search field. This is the fastest way for power users.
Header: Click the Search button in the center of the header (desktop: pill-shaped button with "Search" and a Cmd+K hint; mobile: search icon). The same Command Bar opens.
Closing: Press Escape or click outside the dialog to close. Your last search or selection may be remembered for recent items next time.
There is no separate "Search" page. Search is the search experience inside the Command Bar: one box, mixed results (content + menu + commands).
