Peek at content before opening
What it is: On larger screens, when you select an item in the list (e.g. with keyboard or hover), a preview panel may open to the side showing a snippet or details (e.g. post excerpt, user info) so you can confirm it's the right item before opening.
When it shows: Preview is typically shown for content types that support it (e.g. posts, pages). Menu items and shortcuts usually don't show a preview. The panel may be toggled or hidden on small screens to save space.
Settings: Search settings (see Search settings) may let you control preview behavior (e.g. when to show, what to show). If the preview doesn't appear, check Settings → Search.
