Use suggestions and recent items
Suggestions – When the search field is empty or has little input, suggestions (e.g. common actions or queries) may appear. Use Arrow keys and Enter to pick one without typing the full query.
Recent items – Items you have opened from the Command Bar (posts, pages, screens) can appear in a Recent section. Open the bar, leave the field empty or type a bit, then select a recent item and press Enter to go back to it.
Benefit: Repeat searches and jumps with fewer keystrokes; recent items reduce retyping.
Run commands without the menu
The Command Bar does not only search content. It lists commands (shortcuts) such as:
Open Dashboard
Open Users
Open Settings
New post
Open AI Assistant
(and other registered actions)
Type the screen or action name (e.g. "users", "dashboard", "new post"). Select the Shortcuts or Commands result and press Enter. You navigate or run the action without opening the sidebar menu. Ideal for keyboard-only workflow.
Keyboard and accessibility across the admin
Beyond the Command Bar, FleekDash is built for keyboard and assistive technology:
Tab / Shift+Tab – Move focus through buttons, links, and form fields in a logical order.
Enter / Space – Activate buttons, submit forms, toggle controls (e.g. checkboxes, expand/collapse).
Visible focus – The focused element has a clear focus indicator (e.g. focus ring) so you always know where focus is.
Modals and drawers – Focus is trapped inside open dialogs and returned when you close them, so keyboard users do not get lost.
Screen readers – Headings, landmarks, and labels support semantic navigation and announcements. There is no separate "accessibility mode"; these patterns are part of the default experience.
So you can open the Command Bar, search, select, run and then continue Tabbing through the target screen. All without the mouse.
Quick reference: Command Bar keys
Open Command Bar – Windows/Linux: Ctrl+K. Mac: Cmd+K.
Close – Escape.
Move selection – Up / Down arrows.
Open or run selected – Enter.
